Your host is resident and author Theresa Prince whose research into local history and genealogy forms the basis for many of the Heritage Walk plaques in the village. Join Theresa on a 1-hour “shopping excursion” in the Barry’s Bay of over 100 years ago as her stories bring to life the people and buildings of yesteryear. Remember your walking shoes, hat, sunscreen and umbrella – and be prepared for some surprises!

Railroaders’ Tour of Barry’s Bay

The excitement of steam transport arrived at the frontier outpost of Barry’s Bay in 1894. For nearly 90 years, the Railway connected the Madawaska Valley to the world beyond. Let local rail enthusiast “conductors” take you on a 1-hour walking tour of our railway heritage sites. Relive the romance of rail as their tales unfold. Bring your railroading essentials: walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, umbrella – and a taste for adventure!
